Interferential therapy is a type of
electrical modality which sends small electrical impulses through the
skin to stimulate underlying nerves and tissue. These impulses don't
hurt, but they sometimes tickle and can cause the muscle to twitch.
Interferential therapy accomplishes with a very low simulated
frequency which is put on the soft tissue. The feeling of this electro therapy is very light and most patients feel very comfortable during
the treatment.
Interferential therapy provides a comfortable, soothing
stimulation and should never be strong enough to cause any discomfort
to the patient. It has been suggested that Interferential therapy
(IFT) works in a ‘special way’ because it is ‘interferential’
as opposed to ‘normal’ stimulation.
Interferential Therapy, the electrical treatment is used for:
--Pain
relief
--Muscle stimulation.
--Increased local blood flow.
--Muscle stimulation.
--Increased local blood flow.
--Reduce oedema.
The basic principle behind
Interferential Therapy (IFT) is to utilise the significant
physiological effects of low frequency electrical stimulation of
nerves without the associated painful and somewhat unpleasant side
effects sometimes associated with low frequency stimulation.
Interferential therapy overcomes the problem of skin impedance.
Interferential is electric therapy
which uses two alternating medium frequency currents. Interferential
stimulates the muscle. Interferential can be used to treat a large
range of musculoskeletal injuries including those where swelling and
muscle spasm are present. Joint pains can also be treated effectively
by interferential stimulation. Specific injuries include back pain;
frozen shoulder; patellofemoral knee pain; meniscus injuries;
sacroiliac joint pain
- Reduces painful symptoms
- Decreases local swelling
- Promotes muscle tone
- Restores normal movements
- Releases the body's natural pain killers
- Accelerates the healing process
Compared to other foreign countries
like USA,Canada etc., the orthopedic treatments are carried out in
India at affordable rate. Interferential therapy for chronic pain is best done at Life Med ABC, Chennai, under the guidance of Dr. Santhosh Jacob, the
experienced orthopaedic surgeon in India. Dedicated care is given to
the patients under the supervision of renowned
orthopaedic surgeonchennai and his well trained associates.
